20年以上にわたり似顔絵描きとして活動してきた笑達は、京都での制作を経て、生まれ故郷である和歌山の山間部へと拠点を移した。この移住を機に、彼の作品は「人の肖像」から「土地の記憶」を描く表現へと根本的に変化を遂げている。転機となったのは、ある夜に見た夢であった。山のヌシたちが現れ、相撲を取り、仲間や大地と戯れるその光景は、目覚めた後も彼の心に深く刻まれた。以降、笑達の制作はその夢を起点に、自然と人間の境界を探る行為へと展開していく。彼が用いるのは、土や藍、べんがら、墨、煤といった、生活の延長線上にある素材である。和紙、古布、木片などを支持体とし、ときには描いた作品を土に埋め、水で洗い流すこともある。自然の力に委ねることで、時間や風、光、雨といった現象が画面に痕跡を刻み、やがて有機的な形が浮かび上がる。画面には、光の輪に向かって鳴く鳥、胸の奥で弾ける月、星明かりのもとで抱き合う人々、太陽に手を合わせる姿など、詩的で象徴的な風景が描かれる。それらは、自然のエネルギーと人間の感情が交錯する世界を映し出している。笑達の制作は、明確な形を追うものではない。日々の生活の中で聴こえる風の音、動物の声、光と闇の往来といった感覚を通じ、夢と現実、自然と自己との対話を続けている。その行為は、人間が本来有していた「生きることと創造することの一致」を呼び覚ます、原初的な表現の実践と言えるだろう。

For more than two decades, Shotatsu has been known for his work as a portrait artist. After years of activity in Kyoto, he returned to his native mountains of Wakayama — a move that marked a profound shift in his artistic practice. What once centered on human likeness has gradually transformed into an exploration of place, memory, and the invisible energies that dwell within the land.The turning point came through a dream. One night, the mountain spirits appeared before him — engaging in sumo wrestling, laughing, and playing in nature. The vision lingered long after he awoke, becoming the foundation of his new way of creating: an attempt to converse with the unseen forces that shape both nature and humankind.Working with materials drawn directly from his surroundings — earth, indigo, bengara (iron oxide pigment), sumi ink, and soot — Shotatsu paints on washi paper, aged fabrics, and wooden boards. At times, he even buries his paintings in soil or washes them in water, allowing natural elements to leave their marks over time. Through this process, wind, light, rain, and the passing of days become active participants in the creation, and forms emerge organically from within.His paintings depict poetic and symbolic visions: birds calling toward rings of light, moons bursting within the chest, figures embracing under starlight, and people offering their hands in prayer to the sun. These scenes reveal a world where human emotion and the rhythm of nature intertwine.Shotatsu’s work does not aim for fixed form. It unfolds through his daily life — in the sound of wind, the cries of animals, the dialogue between light and shadow. Within this ongoing process, dream and reality, nature and self, quietly merge. His practice recalls an ancient and essential mode of creation — where to live and to create are one and the same.

◆予約に関して

⚪︎予約枠がいっぱいで追加の予約希望があった場合、その方もオーダーでお受けできます。

　カードサイズ、大判サイズともに受注可能です。

　その場合、予約と予約の間くらいの時間に来てもらえると対応しやすいです。（最短所要時間5分程度）

⚪︎予約時は描く人数、連絡先、お名前がわかれば大丈夫です。サイズは当日作品を見て決めてもらいます。

⚪︎プレゼントやご本人が仕事などで来られない場合、写真からも描くことも可能です。

⚪︎大判サイズに関して

　大判サイズは1枚2時間～3時間ほどかかるので、その場では仕上げずにオーダーをお受けして、撮影、後日制作、お届けになります。
